Advanced Placement Program

Fort Frances High School provides Grade 12 students with the opportunity to take university level English course work while still in high school through the Grade 12 AP (Advanced Placement) program. The course culminates in an exam, written in May, and is designed to provide motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to earn university credits.

Written by a committee of college and university faculty and experienced AP teachers, the AP Exam is the culmination of the AP course. Exams are scored by college professors and experienced AP teachers using scoring standards developed by the committee. This course helps students develop the study skills, habits of mind and critical thinking skills that they will need in university.

AP credits are accepted by more than 3,600 colleges and universities worldwide for credit, advanced placement, or both on the basis of successful AP exam grades. A list of Canadian universities can be found here.

Presently Fort High is looking to expand the AP coursehere.s offered. For further information on the Advanced Placement program in Canada please click here.
